Skills acquired by the Library and Information Science (LIS) Professionals of IITs of Northern India to implement Internet of Things (IoT) in library services

Abstract

This paper tries to evaluate the level of IoT skills of LIS professionals regarding the integration of IoT in library services of selected IITs. The survey research method is used in this study to collect data from 59 LIS professionals of five selected IITs of Northern India through stratified random sampling with response rate of 93.65%. The data was collected through structured Likert-Scale based questionnaires by personal visits to selected libraries. The findings of this study show that the given hypotheses are supported, and there is a substantial link between LIS professionals' IoT skills andacquired competencies. The results of this research study can help LIS educators, and professionals better comprehend the LIS professional skill specifications, improve existing curricular structures, and create new courses for IoT.
